President Muhamamdu Buhari meets the leaders of Niger Delta to trash out a lasting peace solution for the region. Despite losing $7 billion due to militancy, also on the table is an offer of $10 billion
(N3.5 trillion) for infrastructural development of the Niger Delta. Buhari is clearly doing everything humanely possibly to stop the senseless destruction of human life and property, while at the same time listening to the grievances of the Niger Deltans. This is the best holistic approach to lasting peace that we have so far seen. The onus is now on the militants and other terror groups to lay down their arms and follow the path of peace. Opportunity, they say, once lost, can never be regained. A word is enough for the wise.
