A 20-year old Ukrainian man old was awarded the coveted prize on Friday for officially changing his name to 'iPhone 7' after an electronics store offered the latest Apple product to the first five
people to do that. He said he might change his name back to Olexander Turin when he has children.
The price of phone starts at US $850 (£697) in Ukraine, while the name changes costs the equivalent of $2 (£1.64). His friends and family were shocked at first but eventually supported the idea. His sister, Tetyana Panina, said 'it was difficult to accept that and hard to believe it's true.'
She added: 'Each person in this world is looking for a way to express himself. Why not to do that in this way?' Apple is set to launch three versions of the iPhone 8 next year, including a new 5-inch handset, it was claimed last week.
The firm is expected to unveil the most radical redesign yet of its flagship handset for the iPhone's 10th anniversary in 2017.
According to Nikkei, there will be one premium model with a curved edge-to-edge OLED display alongside two models that have standard LCD displays. Citing a supply chain source, Nikkei said Apple will release the three iPhones in the following screen sizes: 5.5 inches, 5 inches, and 4.7 inches.
Apple has tentatively decided that all the 5.5-inch, 5-inch and 4.7-inch models will have glass backs, departing from metal casings adopted by current iPhones, and Biel and Lens are likely to be providing all the glass backs for the new iPhones next year,' the source said.
All three iPhone 8 models will use glass supplied by Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology in China for both the front and back, which will be held together with an aluminum frame.
Along with an edge-to-edge display that includes built-in Touch ID and other sensors, the device is said to include no Home button, advanced biometric features, an improved Taptic engine, and wireless charging.
