According to Sahara reporters, former president, Goodluck Jonathan, Tompolo, Wike, Akpabio, Dokpesi and several others have been named and listed as sponsors of the Niger Delta
Avengers. Meanwhile, GEJ has reacted to the publication saying it's a lie.
This is also according to a statement issued yesterday by
Cynthia Whyte, the spokesman of Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), the group that recently split from Niger Delta
Avengers (NDA). The group named several former and serving governors as
sponsors of the Niger Delta Avengers.
Those named as “sponsors” included
Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Seriaki Dickson of Bayelsa, Senator
Godswill Akpabio, ex-militant Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) Others are: Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Raymond
Dokpesi, the founder of African Independent Television (AIT), the Indigenous
Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Kingsley Kuku, Kimi Angozi, and Patrick Akpobolokemi
RNDA had recently declared its opposition to NDA’s
destruction of oil infrastructure in the region, warning that it would disclose
the names of individuals and groups backing the NDA. Whyte’s statement revealed
that the NDA’s sympathizers included Edwin K. Clark, Tony Uranta, Daniel
Alabrah, Ms. Annkio Briggs, and Olisa Metuh.
RNDA named Oyege Nimi Brown, VIP Timothy, Joshua Macaiver,
Paul Bebenimibo and others as the main operatives of the NDA, adding that
Udengs Eradiri, the president of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), also known as
Brigadier General Murdoch Agbinibo, serve as the NDA’s chief spokesman.
However, speaking with SR from Zambia, GEJ dismissed the
list released and and said he did not wish to trade words with Cynthia Whyte.
He said that the names of those listed suggested that a political agenda
informed the composition of the list and clarified that he was in no way tied
to the NDA
