Some groups of Muslim youths in Niger state yesterday attacked St. Philip’s Catholic Parish, Baki Iku, close to Zuma Rock , destroying properties of the church. According to reports, the Muslim
youths had retaliated as some Catholics members which they believe should hold masses on Sundays and not on Friday as opposed by the Muslims adding that the church only had right to worship on Sundays as Friday was their day of prayer.
The Reverend Father also confirmed the incident explaining how the security guards on duty were injured when Muslim youths in their large number attacked the church premises dismissing women who were also holding a prayer meeting inside the church.
Meanwhile, the incident had been reported to the police and they claimed to have made some arrest and promised to investigate the matter.
