Suspended immigration personnel protest against their
suspension at the Ministry of Interior, Abuja. President Muhammed Buhari had
ordered the suspension of their recruitment process after assuming
office last
year, when they were almost through with their training exercise and were
awaiting deployment.
The 2000 were employed following the tragedy that occurred at
the 2014 recruitment exercise where many candidates died and many more
sustained injuries.
After their petition to the National Assembly, the House of
Representative had in April ordered their immediate re-employment but almost
two months afterwards, no response from the ministry yet, hence today's
protest.
