Girl who stabbed her boyfriend 22 times to death wins beauty pageant in prison!


Prison has always been seen as the end of the road for convicted criminals while some people believe that time in prison would be reformative for inmates, this is not the case for 21-year-old Ruth
Kamande, who found glory from behind bars.

The 21 year old Kenyan woman, who stands accused for the September 2015 murder of her boyfriend, Farid Mohammed, after she had stabbed him 22 timeson the chest was crowned Miss Lang’ata Prison on Wednesday, 31 August, 2016. Ruth beat 19 other contestants to win the annual beauty pageant.

Ruth Kamande allegedly stabbed her boyfriend 22 times and killing him at their home in Buruburu, Nairobi after  she found love messages from another woman on his phone. Though Farid didn’t pass from the injuries he sustained, he died while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Ruth Kamande, however, made headlines when she beat 19 other contestants to emerge the ultimate queen in Miss Lang’ata beauty pageant. The event is meant to support the rehabilitation of female prisoners at the facility.
